Music and Pictures From a Galaxy Far, Far Away Saturday, January 13, 2018, 7:30 pm Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) Al Mayassa Theatre QAR 125-300 Frank Strobel, conductor Manfred Callsen, narrator Last January we performed music from science fiction films with pictures and clips from Star Trek, Alien, The Matrix, Superman and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. This January, through the European FilmPhilharmonic Institute of Berlin we’ve secured the rights to perform music from some of the greatest motion pictures ever. So protective are the studios of these films that we are unable to list a single item or movie from the program. However, we are able to say that the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra invites you with clips and stills and guided narration to meet Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader, the crew of the USS Enterprise with Dr. Spock and Captain Kirk, and Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley in terror from alien creatures. There are no refunds or exchanges. Children 6 years of age and older may attend any concert with ticket purchase. Family concerts accept 3 years and older. Audience members with inappropriately informal attire including shorts or beach wear will not be seated. Out of respect for the musicians and fellow audience members please silence your mobile phones and refrain from flash photography. Seating begins 20 minutes before performances. Latecomers cannot be seated during the concert. The Philharmonic retains the right to expel anyone disturbing other concertgoers. Food and beverages can be consumed in the lobby only. The Philharmonic accepts no personal liability of any sort. Programs and artists are subject to change.
